Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 1, 2026
At extractfromimage.com, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy details how we handle information when you use our free online OCR tool.
1. 100% In-Browser Local Processing
The core architecture of our extract text from image tool relies entirely on client-side execution. When you upload a PNG, JPG, or WebP image to extract text, all processes (including cropping, scaling, and character recognition) run directly inside the memory of your local web browser.
Your images, files, screenshots, and the extracted text outputs are never sent to our servers or stored on any external database.Because your files never leave your device, this tool is 100% private and safe to use for sensitive, confidential documents.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Since we do not run backend databases or servers that collect document assets, we do not compile or store:
- The contents of any uploaded images or screenshots.
- The text results generated during OCR processing.
- User account details (no signup, email address, or login required).
3. Local Storage and Preferences
We use your browser's local storage (`localStorage`) solely to store user preferences to improve usability:
- Theme setting (`efi_theme`): Remembers if you prefer the Dark or Light UI mode.
- History list (`efi_history_v1`): Temporarily stores your last 5 OCR results locally on your device so you can recover your work. You can clear this history anytime by clicking the "Clear History" button in the sidebar.
This data resides locally on your browser and is never synced or shared with us.
4. Third-Party Libraries and Scripts
Our tool uses external libraries to execute OCR:
- Tesseract.js: Loaded via open-source CDN providers (like jsDelivr). When your browser downloads this script, the CDN may log standard network request metadata (such as IP address), subject to their respective privacy policies.
- The language traineddata models are fetched dynamically from open public CDNs to perform local translation inside your browser.
5. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated modification date.
